Maptek I-Site™ Case Studies

|
Accurate volumes for cost-efficent overburden removal (pdf
123KB)
Rio Tinto Alcan recently trialled a new method for overburden removal at the Gove operation in Australia’s Northern Territory. An accurate volumetric analysis of the pre- and post-trial surfaces was required to test the validity of the method.

Total survey solution for
Stockton Mine (pdf
156KB)
Solid Energy has been a Maptek customer for 12 years, with 44 Maptek Vulcan™ licences at sites throughout New Zealand, and recently purchased a Maptek I-Site™ 4400CR scanner for open cut and underground survey.

|
Laser
scanning for stockpile measurements (pdf
236KB)
I-Site provides the ideal solution for measurement of both outdoor
and indoor stockpiles, and is an easy way of deriving accurate volumes.
Because laser scanning gives a far more detailed model of the surface
than other methods, it improves the accuracy of the final result.
|

|
Extreme
conditions and warm relations for I-Site (pdf
172KB)
The Diavik Diamond Mine is located on a 20 square kilometre island
in Lac de Gras, approximately 300 km by air northeast of Yellowknife,
capital of Canada’s
Northwest Territories. The Arctic Circle is only 220 km north of
the mine. A 350 km ice road supplies the mine site for four months
of the year.
|

|
Andina implements
I-Site at Rio Blanco mine in the Andes (pdf
174KB)
The I-Site 4400LR laser scanning system allows Andina to implement
more stringent geotechnical controls to achieve the proposed mine
design, as well as enabling the true field geometries to be captured
with great accuracy for all site geotechnical analysis.
|

|
Devastation
Scene Mapping (pdf 121KB)
A complete solution to scanning, modelling and mapping large-scale
scenes of devastation. High resolution imaging combined with the
laser scan data makes for a very powerful interrogation medium for
any investigator. |

|
End of Month Surveying
(pdf 121KB)
Capture the information required for end-of-month surveys, quickly,
accurately and safely.
|

|
Police Applications
(pdf 155KB)
The I-Site system is ideally suited to map large scenes quickly
by crash and forensic investigators.
|
|

|
Backfill Slope
and Caving Monitoring (pdf 333KB)
Unstable pit crests are a safety hazard, restricting conventional
survey methods as unsafe and unworkable. The I-Site 4400 was used
to quantify volumes and visualise large scaled failures for Nickel
West. |
|

|
Surveying
the North Antelope Rochelle Mine (pdf
187KB)
The I-Site 4400 is used by Peabody Coal to help measure the volume
of cast blasts more efficiently at the open cut mine in North America's
Powder River Basin.
|

|
Scanning
Glaciers in Antarctica (pdf 100KB)
The I-Site 4400 was used to map the position of an Antarctic glacier
to investigate the application of terrestrial laser scanners for
monitoring long-term glacier movements.
|

|
Dump Truck Volume
Calculations (pdf 160KB)
The I-Site 4400 is used regularly for determining accurate volumes
of dump trucks, face shovels and train carriages.
|
|

|
Underground
Laser Scanning (pdf 115KB)
The I-Site 4400 can be used to scan underground development drives
and rises. The optional underground light enables the scanner to
be used as a powerful and rapid means of mapping advancing development
headings.
|

|
Volume Calculations for Silos
(pdf 211KB)
Utilising an I-Site 4400 system with its optional horizontal bracket
allows users to instantly, safely and accurately determine volumes
from within enclosed containers such as silos. |
